I had my shoelaces stolen at a party?

I went to a party where everyone has to take off their shoes at the door and after the party I came back to grab my shoes and one of my laces was missing and the other was cut so it was useless. I saw other shoes missing laces too. Has this ever happpened to anyone. I guess I will stop wearing shoes with laces to parties.
